RedditFandango. Best luxury car to buy and own for 10+ years. My 13 yr old Audi is approaching the time it should be replaced. At this point I am probably spending by $2-$3k per year in maintenance which is ok, but I can see the writing on the wall that rust will defeat me in a year or two. The body is still pristine due to the bodywork I have ...
the huge problem is that the luxury sports segment has morphed into the luxury electric midsize segment. BMW, MB & Lexus just aren't upgrading their older 3-series/C-class & IS platforms any longer. All the latest features & tech are being introduced in their electric plug-in models. tbf, all these upscale sedans over $50k should be leased.
Just not as common. Lexus GX 460 is the most reliable vehicle in the world according to Consumer Reports. Though I agree, paying almost 5k a year on gas alone make it less enticing, that kills the savings on maintenance and repair imo. 14-15 Q50 3.7. 14+ is350. Genesis, Equis if you really want a deal. Lexus and Lincoln come next on the list. Bank for buck "luxury" but not necessarily performance, keeping in mind maintenance - any of the late model Town Cars, pick your favorite Buick with a 3800, or one of the earlier Genesis or K900.
A midsize luxury sedans I’d look at are the Lincoln MKZ, Lincoln Continental, Genesis G80, Volvo S90, Audi A6 or Mercedes E class. Yup I definitely mistyped that. looked at the A6 and it's a bit higher than I'd like to pay. A5 sportback is also a good option. Yo the mkz is not midsized.
