Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) is the native formula and query language for Microsoft PowerPivot, Power BI Desktop and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) Tabular models. DAX includes some of the functions that are used in Excel formulas with additional functions that are designed to work with relational data and perform dynamic aggregation.
In this example, the query defines the following result set information The SELECT clause sets the query axes as the Store Sales member of the Measures dimension, and the 2002 and 2003 members of the Date dimension. The FROM clause indicates that the data source is the Sales cube.
The last modification date stamp (and with DELWATCH 2.0+ also the file deletion date stamp, and since DOS 7.0+ optionally also the last access date stamp and creation date stamp), are stored in the directory entry with the year represented as an unsigned seven bit number (0–127), relative to 1980, and thereby unable to indicate any dates in ...
Date/Time (Extended): SQL Server's smalldatetime format has precision of 1 minute, minimum date value is 1900-01-01, maximum date value is 2079-06-06; datetime format has precision of 10/3 milliseconds (rounded to increments of .000, .003, or .007 seconds), minimum date value is 1753-01-01, maximum date value is 9999-12-31; datetime2 format has ...
Consider a database of sales, perhaps from a store chain, classified by date, store and product. The image of the schema to the right is a star schema version of the sample schema provided in the snowflake schema article. Fact_Sales is the fact table and there are three dimension tables Dim_Date, Dim_Store and Dim_Product.
SQL was initially developed at IBM by Donald D. Chamberlin and Raymond F. Boyce after learning about the relational model from Edgar F. Codd [12] in the early 1970s. [13] This version, initially called SEQUEL (Structured English Query Language), was designed to manipulate and retrieve data stored in IBM's original quasirelational database management system, System R, which a group at IBM San ...
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 offers a (proprietary) alternative to EAV. [33] Columns with an atomic data type (e.g., numeric, varchar or datetime columns) can be designated as sparse simply by including the word SPARSE in the column definition of the CREATE TABLE statement. Sparse columns optimize the storage of NULL values (which now take up no ...
The Start date/time of the second row is equal to the End date/time (or next) of the previous row. The null End_Date in row two indicates the current tuple version. A standardized surrogate high date (e.g. 9999-12-31) may instead be used as an end date so that null-value substitution is not required when querying.
