The following streetcar lines once operated on Long Island, New York in Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk Counties. Many of these systems were owned by the Long Island Consolidated Electrical Companies, a holding company partially owned by the Long Island Rail Road, and Interborough Rapid Transit Company between March 30, 1905 and July 18, 1935.
The Long Island Electric Railway operated lines in eastern Queens until 1926. These lines were later operated by Jamaica Central Railways, until the company reorganized as Jamaica Buses, with bus service replacing trolley service in 1933. [3] [4]
Car 1602A (ex-BU 1410) is preserved at the Trolley Museum of New York. [5] It is awaiting restoration. Car 1612C (ex-BU 1417) is preserved at the New York Transit Museum. This car was previously used as a work car before it was restored to its original condition for the museum collection in 1979.
