The Basic Military Training Centre (BMTC) is a military training facility of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF). It comprises five schools organised into three camps, of which two are based on Pulau Tekong, an island off the northeast coast of mainland Singapore, while the third camp is in Kranji in northwest Singapore.
The 9th Division was formed on 1 October 1978 as a reserve division to manage and train reservist units before it became a combined arms division on 31 March 1992. [3] [4] On 1 January 1995, the 9th Division was restructured to include both active and reservist personnel.

The 3rd Division was formed on 31 August 1970 with six units under its command, which was then known as Area III Command HQ.
