La Sonora Matancera is a Cuban band that played Latin American urban popular dance music. Founded in 1924 and led for more than five decades by guitarist, vocalist, composer, and producer Rogelio Martínez, musicologists consider it an icon of this type of music.
Myrta Blanca Silva Oliveros (September 11, 1927 – December 2, 1987) better known as Myrta Silva, was a Puerto Rican singer, songwriter and television producer who was known affectionately as "La Gorda de Oro". Bienvenido Granda performed, recorded and achieved his greatest success with La Sonora Matancera until 1954, the year in which he began his solo career, having left the group after a bitter argument with Rogelio Martínez, its director, over money.

Napoleón Nelson Pinedo Fedullo (10 February 1928 – 27 October 2016) was a singer from Barranquilla, Colombia.In 1954, Pinedo began a five-year career with the Sonora Matancera, a Cuban ensemble, which at the time had widespread fame in Latin America.
Sonora Matancera member, Javier Vázquez, produced, arranged, directed and played piano on Adalberto Santiago, which was Adalberto's contribution to the early 1980s típico salsa revival. [2] In 1982, Santiago joined with Roberto Roena for Super Apollo 47:50 . [ 2 ]

Modeled after an earlier Cuban band called Sonora Matancera, the Sonora Santanera was founded in 1955 by Carlos Colorado in the state of Tabasco, and went on to find enormous success during the 1960s.
