The Hero Women's Indian Open (named after sponsor Hero) is a golf tournament on the Ladies European Tour. It is played at the DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurgaon, India. The Indian Open, titled for sponsorship reasons as the Hero Indian Open since 2011, is the national open golf championship of India, organised by the Indian Golf Union. Founded in 1964, it was added to the Asia Golf Circuit schedule in 1970. In 1998 it became an event on the rival Omega Tour (known as the Asian Tour since 2004).
The U.S. Women's Open has always been played in stroke play, with the exception of the first competition in 1946, [4] and is currently the third women's major of the year. [3] The first trophy presented to U.S. Women's Open champions was donated by the Spokane Athletic Round Table, a fraternal order, and used until 1953. [2]

The first tournament which is now included in the LPGA's official list of major victories is the 1930 Women's Western Open, although this is a retrospective designation as the LPGA was not founded until 1950.
