Rockwood is the main community in the township. Today Highway 7 gives access to Rockwood, located between Acton and the city of Guelph. The Eramosa River runs through the centre of the village. Anglo-Europeans settled here because of the river; it provided power for mills, some of the first businesses established.
Rock Lake features a campground with 121 sites at the north end of the lake which is accessible from Highway 60 via a gravel road. [3] Algonquin Park also maintains about 20 designated campsites around the lake that are accessible by boat as well as several portages to neighbouring lakes. [4] The lake is popular with canoeists and kayakers.

There are a mix of 221 electrical and non-electrical sites in the two campgrounds (namely Hawksnest Campground and Wild Rose Campground), 10 interior canoe-access sites located on Antrim Lake, Bailey Lake, and Trapper Lake, plus an additional five interior hike-access sites located along the Hawk Ridge Trail.
