Arlington Downs racetrack Arlington Downs was an American horse-racing track located in Arlington, Texas in Tarrant County , about 20 miles (32 km) from downtown Fort Worth, Texas . The $3 million facility, a 1¼-mile track with a 6,000-seat grandstand, was constructed on W.T. Waggoner's Three D's Stock Farm, and opened in November 1929.

In 2022, the event was moved to Churchill Downs after the closure of Arlington Park in Arlington Heights, Illinois and run over the shorter distance of 1 + 1 ⁄ 16 miles.

The Arlington Classic was run at the now defunct Washington Park Racetrack from 1943 through 1945. It was known as the Grand Prix Stakes in 1971, 1972 and 1973 and in 1977 it was made open to horses three-year-olds and up as was labelled as the Arlington Classic Invitational Handicap.
