Ripley County is a county in the Ozarks of Missouri.At the 2020 census, it had a population of 10,679. [1] The largest city and county seat is Doniphan. [2] The county was officially organized on January 5, 1833, and is named after Brigadier General Eleazer Wheelock Ripley, a soldier who served with distinction in the War of 1812.
A municipality incorporates as a 4th Class city if the population is between 500 and 2,999 (under 500, it may incorporate as a village [1] – see list of villages in Missouri). It may incorporate as a 3rd Class city if the population is between 3,000 and 29,999. [2] There is more flexibility in government for 3rd Class cities than 4th Class.

Doniphan is located in south-central Ripley County at the intersection of US Route 160 and Missouri Route 142. The Current River flows past the west side of the city. [15] According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.38 square miles (3.57 km 2), all land. [16]
Naylor is located in the southeast corner of the county 1.5 miles from the Ripley-Butler county line and approximately five miles north of the Missouri-Arkansas state line. Doniphan is about 12 miles to the west-northwest. The Little Black River flows past 1.5 miles to the northwest. [7]
