According to the 2010 census, Cedar Lake has a total area of 9.61 square miles (24.89 km 2), of which 8.22 square miles (21.29 km 2) (or 85.54%) is land and 1.39 square miles (3.60 km 2) (or 14.46%) is water. [7] The lake, which is the largest natural lake in northwest Indiana, appears to have formed from glacial meltwaters.

Lassen Hotel is a historic hotel building located at 7808 West 138th Place in Cedar Lake, Lake County, Indiana. It is a two-story, T-shaped frame building sheathed in clapboard. It has a hipped roof and features a wraparound verandah overlooking Cedar Lake. The eastern section of the building was built about 1890.
