Because all Hi-Point firearms are rated for +P ammunition the slides are even heftier than what would otherwise be necessary. When the last round is fired and ejected, the slide will lock in the open position. There is no slide release on the Hi-Point .45 JHP, so releasing the slide is performed by pulling the locked slide further back.
One frequent point of criticism is the substantial size and weight of the weapon. How is this different from Hi-Point Carbine 9 mm? It isn't much different. However this one does list it under the carbines proper model number instead of calling it carbine 9mm. IMO the older article should be deleted. I think that a single article would suffice for all the Hi-Point carbines; they're all similar enough in design.
