Many fans jump to the conclusion that the lyrics were originally "maybe this thing was a masterpiece til you fucked it all up". In November 2021, RED (Taylor's Version) was released along with All Too Well (Ten Minute Version) (Taylor's Version) (From The Vault). On Jimmy Fallon, Taylor repeated and elaborated the story about the original jam ...
The air was cold. Pictures on the fireplace, you’re showing me around.’ - the original ‘All Too Well’ opening lines. ‘There we are again when you blew the candle out. Took this blazing love, steered it right into the ground. Running scared, I was there.’ - original ‘All Too Well’ lyrics.
You kept me like a secret, but I kept you like an oath. This line honestly embodies a past relationship of mine. I listened to this song for the first time in the car and this line broke me. I'll never forget the little hiccup/gasp I made as the feelings hit me like a gut punch.
By popular demand (i.e. two people asked after reading my folklore series, and I finished my dissertation), here is a literary analysis of what, before folklore, has widely been regarded as Taylor's magnum opus: "All Too Well." As before, I won't be diving into the Swiftology (*stares at Jake*). The line breaks might be weird, because I'm ...
“All’s Well That Ends Well” alludes to William Shakespeare’s “All’s Well That Ends Well”. Both usually mean “things that end well justify the approach of getting there.” However, in this case, the end of the relationship does not end the heartbreak. Taylor Swift still felt great emotional pain whenever she thinks about him.
Removing all those pauses, the lyrics that didn't fit, the lyrics she just mumbled (like she does with the voice memos she released), the song probably was closer to the length of the "OG" All Too Well or, like you said, closer to 8 minutes than 10.
Discussion. I’ve seen a few different interpretations of the lyrics “I’m a soldier who’s returning half her weight”. When I first heard it, I took it to be imagery of a soldier returning home from battle half of the weight they were when they left. Obviously, soldiers go through a lot of crap & probably lose a lot of weight from it.
When you thought All Too Well couldn't get any sadder and blondie casually drops lyrics like "you kept me like a secret but I kept you like an oath" and "it's supposed to be fun turning 21" and "just between us did the love affair maim you too" nobody touch me
There ISN'T a 10 minutes version of All Too Well, guys! Taylor said she asked Liza's help to make the song shorter because Taylor had lots of ideas for the song. So many ideas that, if there wasn't a help from Liza, the song would be 10 minutes long! I think that maybe there are a few lines that Taylor wrote that we don't even know, in her ...
Like the original sounds like someone looking back and being sad about a good relationship, while the 10 minute version sounds like someone who is angry about the relationship. I definitely think with Liz rose saying she helped Taylor edit the lyrics that they chose to paint the subject of a song in a better light.
