Magnolia Mall is a shopping mall in Florence, South Carolina, near I-95. It is owned by PREIT. The mall opened in 1979, and underwent a renovation in 2008. It underwent a further renovation in 2019, adding H&M, Five Below, and Burlington. [3] Other major stores at the mall are Best Buy, Belk, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Tilt Studios.
Leggett (Mid-Atlantic), acquired by Belk in 1997 [4] Lord & Taylor, the oldest department store chain in the United States, founded in 1826 in New York City, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on August 2, 2020. Richland Mall opened on November 2, 1961 as the first mall in Columbia [2].It was an open-air mall, typical of first-generation malls from the mid-twentieth century, and anchored by J.B. White, a major department store based in Augusta, Georgia, that was prevalent in South Carolina.
Belk was founded in 1888 by William Henry Belk in Monroe, North Carolina, outside Charlotte. The store was first called New York Racket and then Belk Brothers, after Belk made his brother, physician John Belk, his partner. [3] Belk bought in volume to pass savings on and sold at fixed prices, then a relatively unusual practice. [4]
Columbiana Centre, developed by Homart Development Company, opened in 1990 with two anchor stores: Belk and Sears. [3] Dillard's was added as the third anchor in 1993, as was a new wing extending diagonally north. [3]

The long-struggling mall property is set to get a massive, $100 million overhaul in coming years. The longtime department store there says it is exiting before the bulk of that work begins.
The Myrtle Beach Mall is located adjacent to the intersection of 22 and 17 in Briarcliffe Acres, South Carolina.The mall includes a Belk (Men's and Women's stores), AMC Theatres, Books-A-Million, South Carolina's only Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World, and Players Choice Myrtle Beach (Comic book trading store and 80's video arcade).
