In June 2015, Samanyolu Yayıncılık A.Ş. announced that the closure of Samanyolu TV, along with its news channel, Samanyolu Haber, will occur in the early hours of 1 May 2016, due to alleged links with the Gülen movement (and later due to the 2016 Turkish coup d’état attempt). Both channels' licenses will be revoked completely.

[1] It has a terrestrial broadcast licence, and it is also available throughout Turkey via satellite. It airs Indian, Pakistani and Korean dramas. The channel is popular for Indian shows in Turkey such as Bir Garip Ask.
Yumurcak TV was a Turkish children's television channel owned and operated by Samanyolu Yayıncılık A.Ş. Launched on 25 June 2007, it was closed and had its license revoked by the Radio and Television Supreme Council on 19 July 2016 due to alleged links with the Gülen Movement following the 2016 Turkish coup d'état attempt.

The political conflict between the AKP-ruled Turkish government and the Gülen movement of Fethullah Gülen began in 2013.. With similarities in ideology, the AKP and the Gülen Movement have long maintained an alliance, with the latter using their judicial influence to limit opposition from Turkey's secular establishment to the AKP's religious conservatism.
