(WMF): With Vector, and "use legacy vector" selected, the left navigation area (just below the Wikipedia logo) as well as the entire bottom section (where the privacy policy, about wikipedia, disclaimers and so are contained) still have white-ish backgrounds (but the text appears to switch to colors designed to be on black/dark).
The signature button always inserts the sig at current cursor position. If the cursor is at some position other than the end, the sig will not be added at the end. In Windows browsers, use Ctrl+End to position the cursor at the very end of a lengthy edit window.
