US Highway 131 (US 131) is a north–south United States Highway, of which all but 0.64 of its 269.96 miles (1.03 of 434.46 km) are within the state of Michigan. The highway starts in rural Indiana south of the state line as a state road connection to the Indiana Toll Road .

The system was created and expanded in scope c. October 5, 1970, after it was approved by the County Road Association of Michigan and the State Highway Commission. The system uses eight lettered zones which are divided by major state highways. Each county road in the system is designated with the zone letter followed by a number.
Business US Highway 131 (Bus.US 131) is a three-mile-long (4.8 km) business loop running through downtown Three Rivers.It follows M-60 (Michigan Avenue) eastward from a commercial district on the main highway into downtown.

US 131/M-43 intersects the northern end of Business US 131 (Bus. US 131) at a partial interchange; southbound freeway traffic can exit to the business route, and traffic from Bus. US 131 can only enter northbound US 131/M-43. Further north, the freeway enters Allegan County, and at Plainwell, M-43 departs US 131 to follow M-89 southeasterly.
