Since 1989, a total of 101 people were executed by the State of Missouri. All were convicted of first-degree murder and all were executed by lethal injection, although lethal gas remains a legal method of execution. Before April 1989, all executions were carried out at the Missouri State Penitentiary in Jefferson City.

The Missouri Digital Heritage Initiative is a collaborative effort that expands the amount of information available online about Missouri's past. In 2007, Secretary of State Robin Carnahan proposed this landmark initiative to further Missourians’ access to information about the history of Missouri and local communities.
On election day, 2 November 1880, Democratic nominee Michael Knowles McGrath won re-election by a margin of 54,748 votes against his foremost opponent Republican nominee James C. Broadwell, thereby retaining Democratic control over the office of secretary of state. McGrath was sworn in for his third term on 10 January 1881.
