At the end of the night, Noah invites Allie to come back the next day and promises her a surprise. She decides to see him again. During this time, her fiancé, Lon, tries to reach her at the hotel. When Allie does not respond to his calls, he begins to worry. The next day, Noah takes Allie on a canoe ride in a small lake where swans and geese swim.
Noah leaves and Allie follows, they go back and forth about Allie staying or Noah moving to New York. However, Noah suggests they wait out the summer and see if they will work out. Allie assumes Noah wants to break it off and they begin to argue, and Allie says she wants to break it off, but then instantly regrets it the moment Noah drives away.
Under the delusion that Claire wants to be with him, he is unwilling to comply. That night, Claire sees Noah having sex with Allie. The following day, Noah leaves a printer running in Claire's classroom, with pictures of them sleeping together scattered around. Claire removes all the photos before her students and the principal arrive.
