The first Malayalam translation of the Kural text, and the very first translation of the Kural text into any language, appeared in 1595. [2] Written by an unknown author, it was titled Tirukkural Bhasha and was a prose rendering of the entire Kural, written closely to the spoken Malayalam of that time. [ 3 ]
Another translation into Malayalam was written by C. Hamza, in 1995. [3] This is called by many as a source book of struggle against European colonial history. It details the history of Kerala, on the arrival of Islam in Kerala through Malik ibn Dinar. It expounds the extent of good relations between the Zamorins of Calicut and between the Muslims.
