Phoenix was a family-run car retail group established in 1993, with dealerships of Kia, Hyundai, Honda, SsangYong and Mazda.
Sir John Arnold Clark (27 November 1927 – 10 April 2017) was a Scottish billionaire businessman. Clark opened a showroom in Glasgow in 1954 and found some success selling cars. He expanded his business and Arnold Clark Automobiles became a nationwide chain of motor dealerships and the largest privately owned business in Scotland.
By 2000, it was operating nine franchises from eleven dealerships. [6] However, it dropped its Renault franchise in 2002, selling the dealerships to Sunwin, Renault Retail Group and Arnold Clark. [7] In 2006, it lost its Alfa Romeo dealer franchise, which resulted in the group only being able to provide servicing for cars. [8]

American cars no longer sold in any quantity and the principals of their other agencies went out of business. They became Morris dealers.
