Bluegrass music is a genre of American roots music that developed in the 1940s in the Appalachian region of the United States. [1] The genre derives its name from the band Bill Monroe and the Blue Grass Boys. [2] Like mainstream country music, it largely developed out of old-time music.
Folk music " Shady Grove " ( Roud 4456) [ 1 ] is a traditional Appalachian folk song , [ 2 ] believed to have originated in eastern Kentucky around the beginning the 20th century. [ 3 ] The song was popular among old-time musicians of the Cumberlands before being widely adopted in the bluegrass repertoire. [ 4 ]
Billy Strings (born William Lee Apostol, October 3, 1992) is an American guitarist, singer, songwriter, and bluegrass musician. [1] He has released four studio albums, with his album Home winning the Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album in 2021, an award he won again in 2025 for Live Vol. 1.

William "Dave" Evans (July 24, 1950 - June 26, 2017) was a tenor singer, banjo player, composer, and bluegrass band leader. He was noted for his powerful tenor vocal range and for his style which bridged traditional and contemporary bluegrass. [3]
Eanes began an extensive tour visiting bluegrass festivals in both the United States and Western Europe during the 1970s and early 1980s. [1] He even recorded an album in Belgium with the local band: the "Smoketown Strut". [1] He had a heart attack in 1978. [1] He died on November 21, 1995, of congestive heart failure. [3]
