Annie Warbucks is a musical with a book by Thomas Meehan, music by Charles Strouse, and lyrics by Martin Charnin. A sequel to the 1977 Tony Award-winning hit Annie, based on Harold Gray's Little Orphan Annie comic strip, it begins immediately after Annie ends.
Martin Charnin first approached Thomas Meehan to write the book of a musical about Little Orphan Annie, in 1972. Meehan researched, by rereading prints of the comic strip, but he was unable to find any satisfactory material for a musical, other than the characters of Annie, Oliver Warbucks, and Sandy, so, he decided to write his own story.
In the 1932 version, Warbucks was portrayed by Edgar Kennedy, however the 1938 version omits the character. In the 1970s, Warbucks became more widely known via the 1977 musical Annie on Broadway. These were followed in 1982 by the musical film Annie, in which Daddy Warbucks was portrayed by Albert Finney, who had shaved his head to play the role.
Its most notable adaptation is the 1977 musical Annie that won 7 Tony Awards which has been adapted four times on screen for both the big screen and television (1982, 1999, 2014 and 2021). The musical also has two sequels titled Annie 2: Miss Hannigan's Revenge (1989) and Annie Warbucks (1992).

Based on the 1924 comic Little Orphan Annie by Harold Gray, the story follows a young orphan as she meets billionaire Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks and begins a journey of finding her parents.
Warbucks, at first dismissive of Annie due to her being female, is charmed into letting her stay. He takes Annie and Grace to Radio City Music Hall to watch a movie, Camille, and Warbucks begins to develop affection for Annie. Grace urges him to adopt Annie and he meets with Miss Hannigan, convincing her to sign the adoption papers.
