All medical colleges until 1986 were established by the government. Currently, there are 37 public medical colleges, these provide 5380 seats every year for students undertaking MBBS. While the 68 private medical colleges provide 6040 seats. 6 colleges are run by Bangladesh Armed Forces which offer 375 seats.
In October 2014, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare capped admission and tuition fees at private medical colleges at 1,990,000 Bangladeshi taka (US$25,750 as of 2014) total for their five-year courses applicable for Bangladeshi students.
Brahmanbaria Medical College was established in 2010 and its first class of students matriculated in the 2013–14 academic year when the school was granted affiliation with the University of Chittagong. [1] 50 Students get chance to enrol in this medical college every year.

Govt. Brojomohun College, Barishal, [1] commonly known as BM College, is one of the oldest institutions of higher education in Bangladesh. It is located in the city of Barishal in south-western Bangladesh.
Seats are reserved, according to quotas set by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), for children of Freedom Fighters and for students from underprivileged backgrounds. Admission for foreign students is based on their SSC and HSC or equivalent grades. [6] As of July 2014, the college is allowed to admit 190 students annually. [7]
The medical college is affiliated with the University of Dhaka as a constituent college. It offers a five-year course of study leading to a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree. A one-year internship after graduation is compulsory for all graduates. The degree is recognised by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council.
