Shepard was one of the original trustees of the Buffalo City Cemetery in 1864, which took over Forest Lawn in 1865. He served as a trustee from 1864-1868. Sydney Shepard is entombed in an impressive private family mausoleum located in section 5 in Forest Lawn.
