The namesake lake is the largest manmade lake within the state, and the park covers about 17 miles of its northern shoreline.

Campers with reservations can access their site 24 hours a day through our St. Johns Rd access. From the intersection of Old Mountain Road and E Monbo Rd in the Troutman area, travel south approx. 4.3 miles on E Monbo Rd to St. Johns Rd. Turn left onto St. Johns and go 0.5 mile to State Park Road.

Beautiful and Peaceful. Apr 2021 • Couples. This is a great little park to rest and recharge among the gorgeous giant trees. It’s quiet but had several kids biking and playing. The surrounding woods have many miles of well marked walking trails where you can view the lake almost the entire walk.
