The over 13-feet waves crashed onto the shores of Lobitos, Mancora, and Cabo Blanco – 700 miles north of Peru’s capital Lima – Friday from around midday, according to local reports.

In 2020, Mesinas won the inaugural edition of the Gordo Barreda Cup, a tribute to Peruvian surfing legend Sergio Barreda. [1] He placed 7th overall at the 2021 ISA World Surfing Games, where he qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics. He competed in the men's shortboard event, winning his Round 1 heat over top American surfer Kolohe Andino. [2] [3]
Cabo Blanco is a fishing village in northwestern Peru, 3 km northwest from El Alto, Talara, Piura. It was famous in the past among big-game fishermen and today is a noted surf break. The village takes its name from the light coloured nearby mountains. In the 1950s and 1960s, fishermen traveled to Cabo Blanco to hunt big marlin.
