Following Ike & Tina Turner's success after signing with Sue Records in 1960, the label released an album from the duo's band the Kings of Rhythm led by Ike Turner. Ike & Tina Turner appear on the cover, but Tina Turner does not sing on this album.
Jimmy Thomas (January 20, 1939 – April 25, 2022) was an American soul singer and songwriter. He was best known as a vocalist for Ike Turner. [1] Thomas joined Turner's Kings of Rhythm in 1958, and remained with the band when the Ike & Tina Turner Revue was formed in 1960.
In 1960, Turner signed to Sue Records and formed the Ike & Tina Turner Revue. He wrote most of their early hits including " A Fool In Love ," " I Idolize You ," and "Poor Fool." In 1961, Turner wrote the hit " I'm Blue (The Gong-Gong Song) " for the Ikettes which Billboard ranked #63 on their list of 100 Greatest Girl Group Songs of All Time.
