Black Thunder Theme Park (P) Ltd is a theme park in Tamil Nadu, India.It is located on the National Highway (Mettupalayam-Ooty) on the foothills of Nilgiris. [1] It is situated in Coimbatore city, 40 km north of the city and occupies an area of about 60 acres (24 ha).

According to the 2011 census, the taluk of Mettupalayam had a population of 259,633 with 129,299 males and 130,334 females. There were 1,008 women for every 1,000 men. The taluk had a literacy rate of 71.93%. Child population in the age group below 6 years were 10,571 Males and 10,259 Females. [1]
The name Marudhamalai refers to the 600 ft (180 m) tall granite hill on which the temple stands and is derived from the native tree called marudham or marudha maram (Terminalia arjuna, also known as the Arjuna tree) which grows there, and malai, meaning hill or mountain in Tamil.
It was started as a halt station for the Coimbatore–Mettupalayam branch line. [6] Until 1956, the Coimbatore Railway Division was functioning with Podanur as the headquarters before the headquarters was shifted to Olavakkode which became Palakkad railway division. [7] The station became part of the newly formed Salem railway division in 2006. [8]
