The Maori River is a river of the West Coast Region of New Zealand's South Island. It flows from several sources in the Mataketake Range east of Haast , passing through the small Tawharekiri Lakes before becoming a tributary of the Waita River , which flows into the Tasman Sea 15 kilometres north of Haast.

[2] In November 2018, InterCity started a new express bus service, SKIP, [ 3 ] [ 4 ] offering affordable, reliable and faster connections between major North Island cities.
Bus fares in both cities are paid for by cash or by the electronic ticketing system Bee Card. The Bee Card replaced GoCards on 1 September 2020. In February 1868, June 1905 and May 1923 flooding from this river extended as far as Kaiapoi.Major floods also occurred in March 1902, February 1936, March 1941, February 1945, January 1953, December 1993 and 2013. 34.7 km (21.6 mi) of stopbanks have been built from the 1930s and have contained the floods since 1953, being enlarged in 1976 and 2018.
The geography of the Clarence is also affected by New Zealand's frequent earthquakes. In the aftermath of the 2016 KaikÅura earthquake, a slip blocked the Clarence River 10 to 12 kilometres (6.2–7.5 mi) from its mouth, causing a buildup of water behind it. Due to the risk of flash flooding downstream, residents below the slip were evacuated.
