However, due to extraordinarily large and erratic movements of the north magnetic pole, an out-of-cycle update (WMM2015v2) was released in February 2019 [4] (delayed by a few weeks due to the U.S. federal government shutdown) [5] to accurately model the magnetic field above 55° north latitude until the end of 2019. The next regular update ...
In mid-December of 2024, scientists officially updated the World Magnetic Model (WMM), which helps keep track of our planet’s magnetic north and its chaotic and relatively unpredictable movements.
Another global field model, called the World Magnetic Model, is produced jointly by the United States National Centers for Environmental Information (formerly the National Geophysical Data Center) and the British Geological Survey. This model truncates at degree 12 (168 coefficients) with an approximate spatial resolution of 3,000 kilometers.

(This is unlike the World Magnetic Model, which is intended for navigation in the next few years.) It is updated at 5-year intervals, reflecting the most accurate measurements available at that time. The current 13th edition of the IGRF model (IGRF-13) was released in December 2019 and is valid from 1900 until 2025.
Windows Movie Maker, a video editing software package, and file format extension; Wi-Fi Multimedia or Wireless Multimedia Extensions (WME), a QoS implementation; Women Make Movies, an organization for women film-makers; World Magnetic Model, a digital model of the Earth's geomagnetic field; World Marathon Majors, championship style marathon ...
The International Real-time Magnetic Observatory Network (INTERMAGNET) is a world-wide consortium of institutes operating ground-based magnetometers recording the absolute level of the Earth's time-varying magnetic field, [2] [3] [4] to an agreed set of standards. INTERMAGNET has its roots in discussions held at the Workshop on Magnetic ...
