According to Buendia, the song had been in his chest of unfinished ideas since the days of the Eraserheads. The song remained unused until early 2016, when vocalist Jugs Jugueta asked about any partial songs Buendia may have had lying around. Buendia gave the Itchyworms "Pariwara", and Jugueta and Nicolas delivered more lyrics and a new bridge.

A second album release by Night in 1980 entitled Long Distance produced a minor hit in its single release: "Love on the Airwaves", and was otherwise overlooked. Night had no further recordings released but did not officially disband until 1982. Night can be seen in the 1980 film The Monster Club performing "The Stripper".
Parokya ni Edgar (lit: Edgar's Parish) is a Filipino rock band formed in 1993, composed of Chito Miranda (lead vocals), Gab Chee Kee (rhythm guitar, vocals), Buwi Meneses (bass guitar, backing vocals), Darius Semaña (lead guitar, backing vocals), Dindin Moreno (drums, percussion), and Vinci Montaner (backing vocals).
The official soundtrack was released by Gato Blanco on the same day. The band released their first LP, Requiem for Romance, in October 2016. The videos for "Bad Girl", "Dear Enemy" and "Show It 2 Me" were released in conjunction with the album.
