The Bucharest Metro (Romanian: Metroul din București) is an underground rapid transit system that serves Bucharest, the capital of Romania.It first opened for service on 16 November 1979. [5]
Line 900 is one of CFR's main lines in Romania having a total length of about 533 km (331 mi). The main line, connecting Bucharest with the western city of Timișoara, passes through the important cities of Craiova, Drobeta-Turnu Severin and Lugoj.

An at-grade extension toward the Bucharest South Ring Road, with a length of 1.6 km (1.0 mi) and one station, was approved in January 2020, [6] [7] and inaugurated on 15 November 2023. [8] The name of the new station is Tudor Arghezi (after the writer Tudor Arghezi). The project also includes a park and ride facility with 600 parking sports. [9]
Between 1895—1896 a new wing of the station was built, which included a "Royal Hall", in anticipation of the visit of Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria-Hungary. [1] The station was initially named Gara Târgoviștei , after the road nearby, Calea Târgoviștei (" Târgoviște Road", now Calea Griviței ), and took its current name in 1888.
A few others were left in service until 1 December 2013, when the remaining DAF SB220 buses were completely withdrawn. Since then, RATB's bus fleet consists of only Mercedes buses. The last trams that were made in the 1980s were also retired in 2007 (V3A) and 2010 (V2A), being replaced with partially low-floor trams.
