Tillicum Village in June 2023. Tillicum Village was a Puget Sound area visitor attraction located on Blake Island, a Washington State Park accessible only by boat, which is off the shore of Seattle, Washington, United States. Founded in 1962 by Bill Hewitt, control of Tillicum Village was sold to Argosy Cruises in 2009.
Blake Island was traditionally used as a summer camping ground by the sx̌aq̓tabš, a predecessor band of the Suquamish tribe. In about 1786, according to Suquamish oral tradition it was the birthplace of Chief Seattle, a Suquamish and Duwamish leader for whom the city of Seattle was named.
