El Paso is a city in Woodford and McLean counties in the U.S. state of Illinois.The population was 2,756 at the 2020 census. [3] The Woodford County portion of El Paso is part of the Peoria Metropolitan Statistical Area.
El Paso Township is located in Woodford County, Illinois. As of the 2010 census, its population was 3,459 and it contained 1,387 housing units. [2] El Paso Township formed from Palestine Township in September, 1861. El Paso is located at 40°44'20" North, 89°0'58" West (40.738800, -89.016034).
Each county has the option to adopt or discontinue the township form of government. [ 7 ] Each township name is chosen by "in accordance with the express wish of the inhabitants"; but if "there is not a degree of unanimity as to the name", then the name may be chosen by the commissioners that are dividing the county into townships.
