Cassia javanica, also known as Java cassia, pink shower, apple blossom tree and rainbow shower tree (Thai: ชัยพฤกษ์), is a species of tree in the family Fabaceae. Its origin is in Southeast Asia , but it has been extensively grown in tropical areas worldwide as a garden tree owing to its beautiful crimson and pink flower bunches.
Butea monosperma is a small-sized dry-season deciduous tree, growing to 15 m (49 ft) tall.It is slow-growing: young trees have a growth rate of a few feet per year. The leaves are pinnate, with an 8–16 cm (3.1–6.3 in) petiole and three leaflets.

The tree is briefly deciduous, and it is during this leafless period that it blooms with umbels of large flowers ranging from creme de menthe to red in color.
