Marcia Muller (born September 28, 1944 [1]) is an American author of mystery and thriller novels. [2] Muller has written many novels featuring her Sharon McCone female private detective character. Vanishing Point won the Shamus Award for Best P.I. Novel. [3] Muller had been nominated for the Shamus Award four times previously. [4]
Two of the novels have been co-written with other authors: Twospot with Colin Wilcox, and Double with Marcia Muller, Pronzini's wife. Each book paired Nameless with one of the other writer's own respective sleuths: Wilcox's Frank Hastings, and Muller's Sharon McCone.
These became the series now known as the "alphabet novels", featuring sleuth and private investigator, Kinsey Millhone. The name rhymes and alliterates with that of Sharon McCone, the heroine of crime novels by Marcia Muller, of whom Grafton wrote, "Marcia Muller is the founding 'mother' of the contemporary female hard-boiled private eye."
