The heritage of the Jurys Group can be traced back to 1881, when William Jury opened his first boarding house in Dublin.The first Doyle Hotel, The Montrose, was built in Stillorgan, Dublin, in 1964 by PV Doyle. 1993 saw the introduction of the Jurys Inns brand with the opening of the Galway and Christchurch (Dublin) Inns in April and May, respectively.
In 1999, the Jurys hotel group acquired Doyle Hotels and became the Jurys Doyle Hotel Group, the largest hotel group in Ireland. [7] It initially comprised the Jurys Inn chain of middle-market hotels as well as the Jurys Doyle properties, the former being sold in 2007.
A significant single expansion for the group was the purchase of nine of the ten hotels of the Moran Bewleys Hotel Group in 2014 which were subsequently rebranded to the Maldron or Clayton brands. [4] The Clayton brand name also comes from an originally independent hotel acquired in Galway in 2014. [5]
