Shubra El Kheima, (Arabic: شبرا الخيمة, lit. 'hamlet of the tent', IPA: [ˈʃobɾɑ lˈxeːmæ], from Coptic: ⲥⲁⲡⲣⲟ ϩⲃⲱ, lit. 'hamlet of tent' [2]) is the fourth-largest city in Egypt after Cairo, Giza and Alexandria. It is located in the Qalyubia Governorate along the northern edge of the Cairo Governorate. [3]

Shubra is a common prefix for many places in Egypt, most of which originated as villages but may today be towns or even cities. For example the villages of Shubra Bekhoum, Quesna, Menoufia, and Shubra Beloula, Qutour, Gharbia, or Qalyubia's industrial city, Shubra El Kheima.
It comprises the entirety of the Cairo Governorate, the cities of Imbaba [b] and Giza in the Giza Governorate, and the city Shubra El Kheima in Qalyubia Governorate.
