The 2023–24 season was Morecambe's 100th season since formation, their 17th consecutive season in the Football League, and their first season back in League Two, the fourth tier of English football. This followed relegation from League One during the previous season. They also competed in the FA Cup, EFL Cup and EFL Trophy.

In December 2023, Morecambe and owner Jason Whittingham were charged by the EFL for failing to adhere to an agreed process regarding players' wages, [31] and in April 2024, the three-point deduction was activated and Whittingham was fined £10,000.
