    If you consider that "пулемёт" literally means "bullet-thrower" but is always translated as "machine-gun", and "миномёт" is literally "mine-thrower" but gets rendered as "mortar" or "mortar launcher", I think it would be reasonable to render the "огнемёт" in TOS as "MLRS with thermobaric warheads" or whatever.
