Oakland Mall is an enclosed super-regional shopping mall in Troy, Michigan. It is located in the northwest corner of the intersection of 14 Mile and John R. roads, adjacent to Interstate 75 (Chrysler Freeway). The mall features 116 stores, including a food court, plus several big-box stores on the periphery.
Developed by A. Alfred Taubman, Fairlane Town Center opened on March 1, 1976.The mall is one of four super-regional Taubman malls built in the Detroit metro area in the 1970s, the other three being Briarwood Mall in Ann Arbor (1973), Lakeside Mall in Sterling Heights (1976) and Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi (1977).

The mall opened on August 2, 1977, anchored by Hudson's, with Sears opening on October 1, 1977, Lord & Taylor on March 6, 1978, and finally JCPenney on May 3, 1978. The mall was designed by Gruen Associates, [4] founded by the pioneer of the American shopping mall Victor Gruen, and Richard Prince. The head builder was Richard Marrone.
