Sapardi Djoko Damono (20 March 1940 – 19 July 2020) was an Indonesian poet known for lyrical poems, and who was widely regarded as the pioneer of lyrical poetry in Indonesia. [1] He died in South Tangerang, Banten on 19 July 2020 after a long illness. [2]
