Moremi Ajasoro (Yoruba: Mọremí Àjàṣorò) was a legendary Yoruba queen and folk heroine in the Yorubaland region of present-day southwestern Nigeria who assisted in the liberation of the Yoruba kingdom of Ife from the neighbouring Ugbo Kingdom. [1] Moremi was married to Oranmiyan, the son of Oduduwa, the first king of Ile-Ife. [2] [3] [4]

Elizabeth Pulane Moremi OBE (1912–1994) was regent and mohumagadi (queen) of baTawana from 1946 to 1964 while her son, Letsholathêbê II a Morêmi, was too young to rule. She married Moremi III, the ruler of baTawana, in 1937. When he was killed in a 1946 car crash, she was made regent.

Moremi was born in 1915 and trained to serve as chief from a very early age. He attended the Gaborone Police Camp and later the Tiger Kloof Educational Institute. It was while at Tiger Kloof that Moremi met Elizabeth Pulane Moremi, who was working as a nurse; the two fell in love and were married in 1937. They had three children.
