Shoe Show, Inc. is an American footwear retailer based in Concord, North Carolina. It operates shoe stores throughout the United States under the brands Shoe Show, Shoe Dept., Shoe Dept. Encore, Shoebilee!, Burlington Shoes, and Shoe Show Mega. The company was founded in 1960 by Robert B. Tucker [2] and has more than 1150 locations. [3]
Stores in the South corridor include American Eagle, Five-Below, Dewey Furniture, and Journey's. Stores in the West corridor include TJ Maxx, Ross, and the Food Court. The center of the mall where all the corridors meet is referred to as Center Court. Center Court features stores such as Shoe Dept. Encore, Lids, and the children's play area.
Shoe Dept. Encore opened a store in the mall in 2013. [12] In 2015-2016, Wet Seal, Eddie Bauer, Deb Shops, Aéropostale, and Hollister Co. closed stores at the mall. [13] In 2016, Payless ShoeSource and Vanity (clothing) closed their stores at the mall as part of a nationwide bankruptcy liquidation. [14]
It was replaced by Grand Traverse Bay Gymnastics in 2021. The mall also gained Shoe Dept. Encore in 2019. TJ Maxx relocated out of the mall in mid-2024. [16] In January 2025, Macy's announced that its store at Grand Traverse Mall would close in the first quarter of 2025. [17]
Shoe Dept. Encore - opened as Beall-Ladymon. [7] The Beall-Ladymon chain was bought out in 1994, which resulted in the mall’s Beall-Ladymon location being converted to Stage in early 1995. [10] Stage was later converted to Goody's in September 2011. Goody’s was to be converted to Gordmans in 2020, but this conversion never happened.
