Baldwin Wallace University (BW) is a private university in Berea, Ohio, United States.Established in 1845 as Baldwin Institute by Methodist businessman John Baldwin, it merged with nearby German Wallace College in 1913 to become Baldwin-Wallace College. [4]
During Baldwin Institute's existence, the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music was established. In 1898, the undergraduate-only conservatory was founded by Dr. Albert Riemenschneider . [ 15 ] Before this time, music classes were offered at the Baldwin Institute for one dollar extra per term.
The Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music is home to the BW Bach Festival, the oldest collegiate Bach festival in the nation, as well as the second-oldest Bach festival in the nation. The festival was founded in 1932 by Professor Albert Riemenschneider (longtime Director of the College Conservatory) and his wife, Selma.

In 1939 Baldwin Wallace University (then Baldwin Wallace College) first applied for and got their first Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Radio License. They did nothing with it until in 1946 the college's Speech Department revisited the idea, but it wasn't until 1955, when a group of 9 students asked Student Council to help bring a radio station to campus.
1915 – The University of Akron and Baldwin Wallace College (now Baldwin Wallace University) joined the OAC in the 1915–16 academic year. 1916 – Ohio Northern University joined the OAC in the 1916–17 academic year. 1919 – Baldwin Wallace left the OAC after the 1918–19 academic year.

The south campus of Baldwin–Wallace College incorporates the former German Wallace College campus, which was centered on the mid-19th century site of the Lyceum Village Square. Both the college and the square are listed in the National Register of Historic Places as the Lyceum Village Square and German Wallace College Historic District in 1975.
