Hürrem Sultan (Turkish: [hyɾˈɾæm suɫˈtan]; Ottoman Turkish: خرّم سلطان, "the joyful one"; c. 1504 – 15 April 1558), also known as Roxelana (Ukrainian: Роксолана, romanized: Roksolana), was the chief consort, the first Haseki Sultan of the Ottoman Empire and the legal wife of the Ottoman Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, and the mother of Suleiman's successor Selim II.
The first haseki sultan was Roxelana, victim of the Crimean slave trade and wife of Süleyman the Magnificent, who became known as Hürrem Sultan after her conversion to Islam. Roxelana was mistakenly assumed to be of Russian descent, probably because of a mistranslation of her name, and European visitors treated her as Russian.
Şehzade Mustafa (Ottoman Turkish: شهزاده مصطفى; c.1516/1517 – 6 October 1553) was an Ottoman prince, son of sultan Suleiman the Magnificent and his concubine Mahidevran Hatun. He was Suleiman's oldest survived son, the governor of Manisa from 1533 to 1541 and of Amasya from 1541 to 1553, when he was executed by his father's order ...

Selim's circumcision, 1530. Selim II (Ottoman Turkish: سليم ثانى, romanized: Selīm-i sānī; Turkish: II. Selim; 28 May 1524 – 15 December 1574), also known as Selim the Blond (Turkish: Sarı Selim) or Selim the Drunkard [2] (Sarhoş Selim), was the sultan of the Ottoman Empire from 1566 until his death in 1574.
Selim was born in Amasya on 10 October 1470 as the son of Şehzade Bayezid (later Bayezid II) during the reign of his grandfather Mehmed II. His mother was Ayşe Gülbahar Hatun, a Pontic Greek concubine, formerly confused with Ayşe Hatun, another consort of Bayezid and daughter of Alaüddevle Bozkurt Bey, the eleventh ruler of the Dulkadirids.
Süleyman and his elder half-brother Şehzade Ahmed Kemaleddin, and elder half-sisters, Fatma Sultan and Seniha Sultan, and her husband Mahmud Celaleddin Pasha were all involved in the plot, Şevkefza Sultan, Murad's mother, and Servetseza Kadin, Abdülmejid's First consort. [9] They all wanted to see the rightful Sultan on the throne. [8]
Mahidevran is unhappy that her rival is in charge of the harem. While trying to escape, the Sultan's guard grabs Murad and part of his family. Only his wife and youngest son manage to escape. Suleiman executes Cem's son, Sultan Murad, and his children. The Sultan's army returns to Istanbul victoriously.
