Tumbleweed Tex Mex Grill & Margarita Bar (also known as Tumbleweed Mexican Food, and Tumbleweed Southwest Grill & Bar) is a chain restaurant based in Louisville, Kentucky. It serves an American-Mexican cuisine in a combination Tex-Mex and Southwest style. Tumbleweed's menu includes Continental food, encompassing such foods as chicken and steak.
It is widely known simply as tumbleweed because, in many regions of the United States, it is the most common and most conspicuous plant species that produces tumbleweeds. Informally, it may be known as "' Kali or Salsola ": the latter being its restored genus , containing 54 other species, into which the obsolete genus Kali has been subsumed.
The Tumbleweed Tree has gained national recognition from a few publications. In December 2013, National Geographic mentioned it in an article [7] and comedian Cecily Strong mentioned the tree in a Weekend Update sketch on Saturday Night Live. Amaranthus albus is an annual herb growing up to 50 centimetres (20 in) tall, forming many branches. Larger specimens turn into tumbleweeds when they die and dry out. The plant creates small, greenish flowers in clumps in the axils of the leaves.
