The building also houses Ohio's state archives, also managed by the Ohio History Connection. The museum is located at the Ohio State Fairgrounds, site of the Ohio State Fair, and a short distance north of downtown. The history center opened in 1970 as the Ohio Historical Center, moving the museum from its former site by the Ohio State University.
The district is named for the Virginia Metalcrafters Company, which operated out of the complex from 1925 until 2006 and produced reproduction hardware for historic sites including Colonial Williamsburg, Mystic Seaport, and Old Salem. [2] The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2015. [1]
The event is included with Ohio State Fair admission, which is $12 for ages 13-59; $10 for 60 and older and ages 6-12; free for ages 5 and younger and Ohio History Connection members.
