The shopping centre for now remains the largest shopping centre in Limerick after further expansion of the Dooradoyle mall in 2005. A playground was planned on the grounds of the centre in 2013. [1] Building of the playground began in May 2014, [2] and it officially opened in July 2014. [3]

The Newmarket-on-Fergus bypass opened in December 2002 and the Ennis bypass opened in 2007. Both were redesignated as motorway in August 2009. The Limerick Tunnel and phase II of the Limerick Southern Ring Road opened in July 2010 forming a continuous motorway dual-carriageway from the N/M18 to the M7 and M20 outside Limerick.
Until the opening of the M7 Southern Ring Road (a dual-carriageway running further from the city linking the M7, N18, M20/N21 and N24 roads), the Childers road carried traffic attempting to skirt past Limerick between these routes, in addition to city traffic to and between the various suburbs along the route (e.g. between Castletroy and Raheen).
The town is located near to the N20/N21 road which, until Patrickswell was bypassed in 2001, ran through the town centre. [3] This road is now the R526 from west of the town to Limerick city. The town can be accessed at either end from the N20 junction for Limerick Racecourse , or the N20/N21 junction further west (where the R526 commences).
Westfield Park is a public park next to the housing estate of the same name which is located off the North Circular Road. The park's walkways are linked by road crossing to the pathway along the River Shannon.
