James La Rue Avery (November 27, 1945 – December 31, 2013) was an American actor. He was best known for his roles as Philip Banks in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Judge Michael Conover on L.A. Law, Steve Yeager in The Brady Bunch Movie, and Dr. Crippen on The Closer (2005–2007); and as the voice actor for Shredder in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Haroud Hazi Bin in Aladdin.
Avery Clayton (March 17, 1947–November 26, 2009) was an artist, educator, entrepreneur, and historian. [1] He is known for having established a library and museum to house African American artifacts collected by his mother, the late Mayme Agnew Clayton .
Avery went 1–2 over 11 appearances, seven starts, split between the Rookie-League Gulf Coast Reds and Class-A Dayton Dragons of the Midwest League in 2005. He spent majority of the 2006 season with Class-A Advanced Sarasota Reds, where he went 8–8 with a 4.43 ERA over 26 starts. He compiled a 2.22 ERA over five starts in the month of August.
